Edouard Woutermaertens

Edouard Woutermaertens (1819 - 1897) was active/lived in Belgium.  Edouard Woutermaertens is known for Painting.

A student of animal painter Louis Robbe, Edouard Woutermaertens trained at the Kortrijk Academy between 1836 and 1840. He adopted his master's subjects, skillfully depicting horses, sheep and oxen in rural landscapes. The artist was influenced by the Dutch masters of the 17th century, as well as Constant Troyon. The press of the time noted that his herds formed a moving skein, with particular attention paid to lighting. Works by this artist can be found in his hometown museum, as well as in Bruges.
